Part Five of our Anniversary Vacation--a Bucket List item crossed off

I first heard about Sight & Sound Theaters when I was working at the post office. Every year I would see the pamphlets come in the mail and I knew it had to be an amazing thing. I told myself that someday I would go there. I am so happy to say, I have been and it was all I hoped for and more.
Unfortunately I obviously couldn't take pictures of the show. These are all I took. The building is huge and impressive.

I think I was too excited and in awe to take more pictures of the outside. Here is a picture of the postcard.
We saw the play, "Jesus". If this is the one and only time I get to see a play at Sight and Sound, this is the one to see. It was inspiring and just phenomenal, perfectly done. There were live animals from flying doves to sheep and horses going up and down the aisles. There were stormy seas and Jesus walked on water. I bought the program guide and I could take a lot of pictures to show you but I will just share a couple so you can get an idea of what the set is like--just incredible.

It was not only in front of us, but on the sides too. I really can't do it justice in my descriptions--a gift for the eyes and the heart. If it weren't so far away, I would make this a yearly visit. But I finally made it, it was worth it and I will have the memory of how great it was. I loved it. It was worth the wait.

Part Three of our Anniversary Vacation in Pennsylvania

After our railroad adventures, we stopped by the Mennonite Information Center to see a recent display that we had heard about. In the outside courtyard is a re-creation of a tabernacle.
This painting is how it would have looked when they were wandering in the wilderness. In the center is the tabernacle. The tents were set up around it in specific orders by each tribe. When the cloud above the tabernacle, which looked like fire, lifted, that was when it was time to move on.

Another rendition of how it looked
Then we were able to go inside this re-creation of the tabernacle, bringing to life things we have read. Our wonderful guide carefully explained every feature of this re-creation and how each item was used and what they were made of--from the type of wood, to roofing materials to the embroidered curtain and the jewels on Aaron's vest representing the tribes.

Then we were able to look at the replica of the Ark of the Covenant behind the curtain.

Some other Mennonite info in the museum.

From trains to train ride to the tabernacle and Mennonite museum, that was the end of that day. I am only sharing this motel room for reference. We have had great luck with those coupon books that you pick up at travel centers--Hotel Coupons.com. (not Hotels.com--our first motel would have been cheaper for a Veteran discount had we not gone through Hotels.com). This room things we love--sink and bathroom areas separate, fridge and microwave but also a kitchen sink area with dishes if you desire. There was a living room sitting area and a big TV screen. On Monday nights, a free evening dinner was included--Salisbury steak, green beans, macaroni and cheese and dessert. Every morning breakfast was included. Not bad for $69 a night. They let us use the coupon for 3 consecutive nights. Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham in Lancaster. Only missing component--no pool, otherwise, it was home sweet home for three nights, very centrally located to everything we wanted to do.
