How a story was born

I can remember the exact moment as I was opening a kitchen cupboard trying to prepare lunch for family members that were arriving. My three year old grandson came running in, "Grammy, Grammy, I saw a fish in a tree!" My immediate response was, "A fish in a tree? How can that be?" At that moment Pop pop said, "Sounds like a story."

After my grandson filled in more details about the fish in the tree, we had lunch. That evening after everyone had left, Grammy sat down to write the story that needed to be told.

Obviously, from it's birth, it had to be in rhyme. Grammy was pretty pleased with her first draft. Pop Pop thought it was good too. The grandkids liked it too. Grammy decided she would like to try to get the book published. Oh, Grammy had so much to learn.....(to be continued).

Barkhmasted 4th of July Parade 2021

The best small town independence day parade in Connecticut! This year it was dedicated to the memory of Peter Minton and his work in keeping the Star Band going. For those unfamiliar with the Star Band, it is a collection of any musicians of all ages and abilities who would like to march in the parade. They have one rehearsal the night before and I think it is safe to say, it has never been the same exact band twice. They are always excellent. Peter left this world way too young, but his family continued the tradition and many of the faithful musicians came out to march.
