The Dog Chapel
These are pictures of the beautiful stained glass windows in the Dog Chapel designed by Stephen Huneck.
The Dog Chapel
This was a scheduled stop. I first heard about the Dog Chapel from one of my customers. She explained what it was and I knew it was a place that I would like to go. The Dog Chapel is on Dog Mountain. After artist Stephen Huneck recovered from a coma, he had this dream to make this chapel dedicated to dogs. The grounds are a place to walk dogs with ponds and trails--a heavenly place for dogs. The Chapel (where dogs are also welcome inside) is a tribute to beloved dogs who have passed on.
These are pictures of the outside. Next up...the beautiful inside.
At the Hop
More pictures from "At the Hop". Remember you can click on them to enlarge the pictures to get a better view of just how much is in this store. What nostalgia!
Return to Happy Days!
Sometimes when you have a plan, something else unexpected pops up. Right next to the Brick House Store, there was an enticing store called, "At the Hop". Well, one step inside and you were in an 1950's ice cream shop. So fun! There was so much memorabilia in the store to look at. We really didn't give it enough time. It was pretty awesome.

The Brick House--Oldest Continually Run Store in the US
Vacation means different things to different people--for some it's getting away to just relax. For some it's visiting long distance relatives. Some even stay home and use the time to accomplish projects. Some plan an aggressive itinerary and go, go, go. Ours was mostly the latter with a little relaxation (or exhaustion?) thrown in.
Our first stop on our journey (after driving 200 miles)was the oldest continually run general store in the USA. It is located in Bath, NH. It has been in business since 1790. Today they sell New England specialities such as meat, cheese, fudge and maple syrup. They have a neat display case of old items--like an old Postal Department regulations book, which caught my eye.
Next to the store is New Hampshire's longest covered bridge, also known as the Kiss 'n Bridge (of course, we did).
