Farmington River, Collinsville, CT

We were driving through Collinsville and I made
George stop the car to see this. These silly young men had climbed this pillar in the Farmington River and were jumping from it and climbing back up.
We saw a few do it safely, but I worry about the depth of the river this summer. If they were my kids.......
I wonder if their mothers know?

I wonder how they got away with it ? It's all fun and games till someone gets hurt.

Agreed. Foolish youth.

They could be doing worse things

they must have been on meth

Your right, foolish youth. I am going to stop jumping form there and go do drugs like the rest of the kids my age instead. Much safer.

Now, now. Didn't mean to upset you. I was writing as a concerned mother. One day maybe you will know what it is like to be a parent.
Stay safe and sober, from a caring Mom.

Thanks Debbie. Im actually a parent myself to a 20 month old and I flip off this same pillar. I also (just like the rest of them) check the depth to ensure safety. One day my little man will be doing the same too. I appreciate your concern but these "kids" know what theyre doing. Its their passion for the sport that keeps them hanging out swimming in the Summer rather than getting into trouble. Theres always 2 sides to a story. Dont be so quick to judge things you arent familiar with. In fact, you should try it some time. Youd probably love it :)

This post just really pisses me off. I didn't know people could be so rude and ignorant.

And to whoever said good RIDDANCE (not riddens) thats just messes up. To call us stupid without knowing the safety precautions we take is just you being ignorant and immature. We take more precautions than you might think. To Debbie - Your concerns are appreciated but we have it under control.

Lived on the river many years,it's very safe and good excersise. The water is very deep and the kids get excersise climbing the pillars. The rock jettie goes halfway across and you swim the rest to get there.it is not safe to jump off the bike path bridge, that is where the accident will happen

that has got to be the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. I've flipped off this pillar countless of times and its insanely fun. and i dont see a single stupid thing about it...
