October 22, 2017 Autumn Day

We decided to go for a ride to enjoy the foliage. We started at Dennis Hill, Norfolk, CT.

Then we took a ride by George's old homestead:

Then we were surprised to learn of the boardwalk that they are building in the center of Norfolk.

Then to Wood Creek:

After lunch at the Snack Shack in Canaan, we tracked down the Whiting Viaduct in East Canaan. It wasn't easy--a combination of George's memory from long ago, a little help with the internet and a little bit of luck. I had not dressed for a hike--even a short one--and there was pain involved. Sore feet in sandals, knees having trouble walking over logs up hill to find the ground soft when you try to get over. Grabbing small trees for balance didn't work as most were rotted. There were scrapes and blood involved and between us 5 ticks, but we found it.
