Right Hand Turns

I don't know where it was but someone had written something somewhere about leaving your driveway one day and just take right hand turns and see where you end up. Well, I pictured this before I did it. If I went right out of my driveway, I would go on this road that leads to a main route and then the next right would actually take me to the road that I live on--I would drive in a circle. The same thing would be true if I took left hand turns.

I wonder how many people live in that situation. I wonder what that says about me--I'm a homebody? Well, that's pretty true, though my husband isn't. Maybe it says we are spinning our wheels going in circles in our life? It can't mean that I'm a dizzy blond because I am not blond.

Maybe it means nothing more than the fact that we don't get to participate in this little game of right hand turns unless we make up our own rules--that's a thought. It'll let you know if we try skipping the second right and see what happens. Hope you can play it.

"Jesus wept."

That's the shortest sentence in the Bible and this will be my shortest blog.
Less than two weeks in office and President Obama has increased the funding for abortions. Here we go.

Matching Socks

Recently someone said to me that old cliche, "Opposites attract" which is usually used when you can't figure out any other reason that two people are together as a couple. As I was trying to find two matching socks this morning--they have been playing hide and seek in sweaters from the dryer lately, so more times than I realized, I was putting only half a pair in my drawer--anyway, as I searched, I thought perhaps this is what is meant by that saying.

I found ones that were close but not exact. I do have a couple of pairs with the design only on the outside and therefore, one is clearly the left sock and the other the right. That would be how people are different. One has to be a left and the other a right, but other than that the size, pattern and color has to be the same to be a pair.

Although people say, "Opposites attract", they have to have something in common and I would say more than one thing too. I think in order for things to work with a couple, there needs to be less opposite traits--the more opposite would equal obviously, opposition. You can only live in opposition for so long. Mismatched socks draw attention and to me are just uncomfortable.

So, there's my observation today. People are like socks--messed up in a sock drawer or hiding in a sweater until some unknown force matches them up for a common cause. Sometimes it's so easy to find a match and sometimes it takes a long time.

P.S. My socks have been embarrasing to me this year. I was in the grocery store and for some reason turned around and there on the floor was a familiar looking sock--it must have escaped from my sweater. A man saw me pick it up and put it in my pocket. I wonder what he thought. The other day I was sitting down and I reached up my sleeve and pulled out a sock. My husband had a good laugh at my "magic trick". I was wondering why my sleeve felt a little different. Now I have to do a sock check before I put on my sweaters.

Paw Prints Continue

Posted by Picasa

For those of you who saw my Dog Paw Rock posting in October, I just wanted to let you know that when some people see UFOs and some ghosts, I see dog paws. It continues.

I did not get a picture but I had a VCR cleaning tape on my lap (not a good move) and I put the liquid drops into the tape, as I took the tape off my lap, I realized it somehow dripped out to the other side onto my jeans. There the drops made, of course, a paw print.

Now maybe some people think we are stretching it, but on both of our cars, when the snow melts on the hood, it looks like a paw print to us--not perfect, but if you read between the flakes...I know you're saying I'm flaky. I don't care. Anything's pawsable.

"And another word..."

Today my husband is sick and for the first time, I had to clear our driveway of the six inches of snow by myself. I have never used a snow blower and was too intimidated. I started out shoveling but decided to use our Toro Power Shovel. This is a neat little shovel for walkways--it's like a mini-electric snow blower. We bought this for $10. at a tag sale one summer. We did not know if it worked or not and did not even try it the first winter that we owned it. Now we wish we had. It's the neatest little thing and sure saved me a lot of aches and pains.

The drawback is it needed an extension cord and even with that only made it 3/4 of the way down the driveway--which is great but the hardest part to shovel is the end of the driveway where the evil plow packs it in as hard and high as they can--or so it seems.

Nonetheless, I highly recommend the Toro Power shovel--esp. if you can get it cheap at a tag sale! The hardest part was keeping the extension cord out of the way, but that sure beats lifting and throwing snow! Warm weather and no snow would beat it all.

"And now a word from our sponsor"

Well, no not really. No sponsors here, however, I did want to put in a good word for two new products that have come into my life.

The first is the H20 steam mop. I love it. You may have seen it on TV. You put a pad on the bottom, put water in the canister, plug it in and steam clean your floors--no more mop wringing or bucket dumping and no chemicals or cleaners needed (which saves money). I feel like my floor is cleaner with the steam. The mop is light. The pad goes into the washing machine and comes out great.

I will give you the drawbacks. First the cord is short. I am lucky enough to just be able to reach my whole kitchen. Occasionally it is hard to push--I haven't figured out exactly what causes that--the pad not wet enough or too wet, but it's usually fine. I am very pleased with this mop.

The second product is the magic eraser by Mr. Clean. It's a sponge, which again doesn't use any chemicals--you just add water and then it does magic! I will be honest, except for having gotten a free sample, I would have never went out and bought one. I thought they were too expensive. Well, when the sample they sent me got out coffee stains that I thought were permanently in my counter, I was sold. I gave my daughter one and it got out crayon stains in her coffee table. She said it was, "a Christmas miracle".

There are several versions of the magic eraser and I guess there is one with chemicals in it. I am extremely happy with the basic one. I understand you can wash windows with one and I'm anxious to try that too.

Seems like I am going green this new year--got rid of some chemicals. For those of you who know me well, you probably find this pretty funny that I am talking about cleaning since I hate to clean, however, that's the point. I hate it and here are a couple of things that make my life easier. If you try either of these and like them too, let me know. If you don't like them, I don't want to hear--only kidding. Not everyone can be right--I meant to say, not everyone can like the same thing.
