Part 2 of Vacation: Maine Beaches

As soon as we entered Maine, we were caught in a lobster trap at the information booth. Once we got free, we made our way to the beach in Ogunquit, Maine. We were not in our bathing suits and couldn't find a changing place, so we were able to just wade a little. We had our walking sticks with us and if not for that, we would have surely been knocked over by the strong waves that slammed against us. The water didn't seem too cold and felt good on another sweltering day. It was much too hot for us, to just sit on the beach.

Ogunquit

How could a lighthouse lover, not take the time to see a lighthouse? Next stop the Nubble Lighthouse.

While we were in Maine, we missed knowing there was a lighthouse open house day. I was not too bummed to have missed it when I learned that at one lighthouse people were walking on the footbridge to get there and it collapsed injuring 11 people. I get nervous on walkways and bridges anyway; this does not help my fear. Glad no one was seriously injured. I can admire these towers from a distance.

A nice woman from Saratoga Springs, offered to take our picture. You can see how hot we were!

Next stop York, Maine. This beach had easy parking and a changing room, so we were able to go a little deeper in the water and we actually got to sit on the beach a while. The seagulls were really hoping to find something in all the things this person left scattered on the beach. We were too busy watching them or looking out to the ocean, that we didn't notice that the tide was coming in and all of a sudden our stuff (which wasn't much) was wet! George and another woman jumped in help this man move all his stuff  out of the water to temporarily still dry ground.

I have a new phone and I am not sure what is wrong with using the zoom lens. It has been coming out blurry.

Next we walked some of the Marginal Way. It's beautiful, but was difficult for us, again due to the heat.

A couple of last pictures on our way to dinner and back to the hotel to call it a day.

June and I have been to Nubble Lighthouse. I have heard that it is the most photographed lighthouse on the East Coast. Did you find any nice sea glass during any of your beach walks?
